Q2: From the perspective of an engineer, how does the GZ-X900 differ from conventional video cameras?
I don't think of the GZ-X900 as a one-unit-per-household item like others in the Everio series, but rather as a one-unit-per-person tool that becomes a part of personal events in our lives. To that end, its most important aspect is its portability.
Given this, we at first worked on the densification of circuits that would form the basis of the compact design.
Also, through newly developed O.I.S. system, we cut down on the impact that the camera's light weight would have when shooting videos.
In addition, by enabling the shooting of real nine-megapixel still images without pixel interpolation thanks to a high-resolution image processing engine, it became possible to enjoy high-level still images, which allows users to experience the texture of shooting objects.
These technologies form the basis of the "condensed high performance" that is a shade different from previous products.
